Does My Popcorn Ceiling Have Asbestos?
If you want to know if popcorn ceilings are dangerous, the quick answer is, it can be if it has asbestos. The short story with asbestos is that they were used back in the ’60s and ‘70s as a form of insulation and waterproofing. Later, they were found to contain specific components that turned out to be potentially poisonous or harmful to humans. The use of asbestos was banned in the United States in 1973. Yet some companies still used them well into the ´80s. If you have a younger home you are probably not going to have to worry about your home having asbestos. We can check for you anyway.
What Happens If My Ceiling Does Have Asbestos?
The removal procedure has to be done with a higher degree of care to make sure that we are able to remove all of the asbestos from the ceiling. If we find that in fact, asbestos is still present we will take steps to make sure that the removal process can be done safely. This could mean closing off an area of your home for a while.
